One size doesn't fit every Active Partnership!
Case Study with Joe Broady: Creating a stakeholder engagement approach that works for Active Partnerships
The Overview
Active Partnerships occupy a unique position. They are established in different ways to serve their specific areas, but they are united as Sport England funded partners that seek to improve lives at a local level through physical activity, movement and sport. To do this, they work with a wide range of stakeholders across a variety of systems.
For Joe Broady, Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement Manager at Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, finding a structured approach to stakeholder engagement wasn't straightforward.
Traditional customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement models simply didn't fit.
That's where The Activation Project (TAP) and Impact Innovation were able to help.
A tailored approach, not an off-the-shelf solution
Having worked with the team previously through Sport England coaching, with members of the team also accessing individual coaching and mentoring schemes, Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire new they needed support from people who understood how Active Partnerships operate.
Rather than recommending a standard stakeholder engagement model, TAP and Impact Innovation designed a bespoke four-session programme to explore Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire's needs, identify what would work for their organisation and develop a practical framework they could implement.
The result wasn't just another strategy document. It was a clear, structured stakeholder engagement model designed specifically for Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Joe's Key Benefits from LeaderLine Active Collaboration
Understanding what makes Active Partnerships different
Practical support with lasting value
One of the biggest benefits for Joe was working with people who already understood the sector.
"Active Partnerships are all connected through Sport England, but every organisation is different. One model doesn't fit everyone."
The work recognised those differences and helped Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire develop an approach that reflected its own priorities, relationships and local context.
Instead of paying for generic stakeholder management systems packed with features they didn't need, they worked towards creating a practical approach to stakeholder management which can then be taken and applied to a platform/system of their choosing that the team will soon be implementing.
For Joe, the value wasn't simply the workshops themselves.
It was leaving with something actionable that the organisation could continue using long after the programme had finished.
"TAP and Impact Innovation helped us decide on an approach that works for our unique situation. We now have a clear structure, practical tools and a model we can implement."
