Leadership Coach

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Enthusiast, determined and reflective.

What are your unique strengths and accomplishments?

I have managed business relationships across different sectors and excel at building trusted connections. As an Executive Director at an affordable housing group for many years, I am particularly proud of instilling a coaching culture within the organisation. We were early adopters of forming a Leadership Academy at Bromford Housing Group, emphasising coaching as a vital opportunity for all leaders to enhance their effectiveness. Throughout my 30 years there, I coached many leaders, and I consider this one of my most significant contributions.

I believe patience is essential in coaching, allowing silence for reflection, which helps clients navigate tough emotions and explore their issues more deeply during challenging moments. â€‹I focus on building trust and rapport, providing leaders the time and space to develop personally through coaching and mentoring. Now retired, I’m eager to bring my collaborative approach to the Activation Project.

What is the most inspiring thing about coaching for you?

I believe that the most valuable reward for me as a coach is witnessing the growth of people's self-confidence.  Many individuals often fail to recognise the strengths and abilities they possess. As a coach, it is incredibly rewarding to see a person realise that they have much more to offer than they ever thought possible. They possess valuable skills and contributions that can make a significant impact.

What's the one piece of advice you would give to someone who's seeking coaching?

To get the most out of coaching it's essential to prepare yourself properly. I encourage people to be as explicit as possible when defining their coaching objectives.

In coaching sessions, coming prepared is vital. Think about the topic in advance to maximise your time and engagement. It's important to be present and minimise distractions; taking at least 10 minutes before the session to gather your thoughts can help you focus on what you want to achieve.

What are you happiest doing when you are not working?

I live in the heart of the countryside, and hill walking is my favourite pastime. I enjoy spending time with friends out on the hills, and I always feel better with clearer perspectives on life after returning from a good day outdoors.
